She believes that music is the tool that she uses to help her students become the best people they can be. Heather enjoys working with every age, but especially loves the middle school age.

She has taught all aspects of music from general music, band, choir, to music appreciation, plus a few other fun courses. Heather is elated to be a part of EDMO Coaching for her first year! For the past 15 years, Heather has been a music educator in southwest Missouri. We can all strive to be the best version of ourselves. Education is a critical component in a kid's development so when she can do something to provide help or support, she is driven to take on that opportunity to get kids striving in all that they do. She enjoys including mindfulness and problem solving practices in her work. Her career goals involve working with kids because she loves the experiences she's had with them kids uplift and create a fun working environment. She has always been learning and working with kids from babysitting family members to volunteering and obtaining jobs focused on kids. The passion to create a space where she can help kids develop and grow to their best of their abilities with surrounding support and an encouraging environment is what strives her to be the best version of herself when working with kids. She is bilingual fluent in English and Spanish. Julissa Martinez is a recent college graduate from the University of California Merced, where she obtained a bachelors in Psychology and Public Health. Kim lives on her family's farm in Colorado and in addition to learning and teaching, is passionate about permaculture farming, beekeeping, and hiking with her dog. Kim wishes to bring that lens to EDMO coaching and serve kids by helping them fill foundational academic gaps and build confidence. Educational therapy seeks to create a safe, supportive, and carefully scaffolded tutoring space in which learners can find success in areas of struggle with a trusted teacher who understands and respects diversity in learning styles, challenges, and histories. In addition to homeschooling her niece and nephew for the second year, Kim will be offering educational therapy style coaching to young learners in math, reading, and phonics skills (Orton-Gillingham based). Previously, Kim earned bachelor's degrees in elementary education and writing arts from Rowan University in New Jersey. Kim has worked as an elementary and middle school classroom teacher, special education teacher, and educational therapist in California where she earned her master's degree in educational therapy. Kim is thrilled to be joining EDMO for the 21/22 school year as an online academic coach.
